LaDainian Tomlinson is as surprised as everyone else about the Chargers’ winless start, and how a team that was going to breeze through the AFC West and finally make another Super Bowl is in the division cellar.
How the Chargers, after two weeks, are looking up at the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos.
But that’s where the Chargers sit after being on the wrong end of a 39-38 verdict in Denver on Sunday that included two head-scratching calls which might have changed the game.
But there is no change coming and that has some Chargers followers very concerned — for no reason.
That’s Tomlinson take in wake of the second heartbreaking loss in as many weeks.

It marks the second upset in a quick span for the Chargers—chatty quarterback Philip Rivers is zipping his lip.
On the heels of the disappointing opening-game loss to the Panthers on Sunday, Rivers has told everyone he will not be revisiting last year’s holiday scene at Qualcomm Stadium. That one in which Rivers was seen jawing in the direction of Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler when the Chargers iced their victory.
“I’m not going to get into it through you guys, through the media, all week long,” Rivers said. “I’m just not going to do it. I’m going to talk football about Denver and see what kind of team they are as I get to prepare for them and go play the game.”

SAN DIEGO (AP)—After the San Diego Chargers lost at Jacksonville in mid-November to fall to 5-5, LaDainian Tomlinson called a players-only meeting.
The most brutally honest member of the organization, Tomlinson had a simple message—that the Chargers were still in first place in the AFC West and still had time to straighten things out.
“I don’t know if you always want to wait that long,” Tomlinson said Wednesday, when he was elected one of the Chargers’ five captains.
The others are quarterback Philip Rivers, outside linebacker Shawne Merriman — who will play despite having two torn ligaments in his left knee—defensive tackle Jamal Williams and special teams standout Kassim Osgood.

The Chargers’ goal is to reach the Super Bowl. But that road to Tampa, Fla., might be little tougher with gimpy linebacker Shawne Merriman deciding to play.
Merriman, the three-time Pro Bowler, has made the decision to forge ahead, despite two torn ligaments in his left knee.
“To be as simple as possible, I just want to play football,” Merriman said. “That’s what it comes down to. I know what’s on the table, I know what’s on the line. I put a lot of work in this and I want to play.”
Whether Merriman was aboard or not, the Chargers’ aim is still reaching the second Super Bowl in franchise history.
“Fans stop me a lot and ask me about the Super Bowl,” quarterback Philip Rivers said. “That’s the ultimate goal. There’s no denying that. But it’s a journey. We’re not going to win it today. It’s a long hard road to get there.”

SAN DIEGO (AP)—Jacob Hester has proven to be exactly as advertised during Chargers training camp: Tough, durable and a true gamer.
The third-round draft pick in April’s draft will never pack the flash and dash of starting running back LaDainian Tomlinson but he certainly isn’t shy about supplying lumber and thunder.
“He’s that type of player,” quarterback Philip Rivers gushes. “‘Let me run into somebody and run tough.”’
Hester has led the Chargers in rushing in both of their preseason contests. He had 49 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries in the opener against Dallas and followed that up with 59 yards on 12 rushes in last Saturday’s loss at St. Louis.
